Head of ESS, Co-Chief Investment Officer
Steve Zander is the head of European Special Situations ("ESS") and co-chief investment officer of Cross Ocean Partners. He founded the ESS business at Capula Investment Management in June 2012, growing the team to thirteen people and raising approx. $1.5bn of committed capital across three funds, before transferring across to establish Cross Ocean in July 2015. Prior to Capula, Steve was a founding senior partner at Haymarket Financial (HayFin), a European direct lending and special situations asset manager, where he was chief investment officer and chairman of the investment committee from 2009 to 2011. From 2002 to 2009, Steve was at BAML most recently as a managing director and co-head of the global loan and special situations group (2008 to 2009) and earlier as head of the European distressed and loan trading business. Earlier in his career, Steve was at Barclays Capital (1997 to 2002) as head of European high yield and distressed trading and prior to that at UBK Asset Management (1992 to 1997) where he was head of credit and earlier as a credit analyst. Steve was a chartered accountant at KPMG from 1989 to 1992. Steve is a member of the board of directors of Cross Ocean Partners.
